They build tremendous strength, are easy to micro-load and . However, sometimes we just don't have access to them. Whether it is travelling, a lack or equipment or something else, sooner or later, we will find ourselves in a place with no weights.

That is where bodyweight fitness comes into play.

Pushups, pullups, squats...sounds familiar? It does and if you aren't yet familiar with calisthenics, that is probably the scope of exercises you imagine are possible without weight.

But that couldn't be further from the truth.

What do we do in weightlifting when we want to make an exercise harder. Usually, we add more weight. But what can we do with a pullup? Sure, we could add weight(and weighted pullups are an incredible exercise), but remember, we currently don't have any.

To increase the difficulty of an exercise at a fixed weight(your bodyweight), we must manipulate the leverage.

Imagine deadlifting. Now imagine deadlifting, but the weight must at all times be a hand's length away from your body. Any harder?

The same principle is what makes gaining impressive strength with your bodyweight alone possible. Pushups too easy? Move your hands closer to your waist, a move called pseudo-planche pushups. You can do infinite pullups? Try L-sit pullups and watch your numbers drop.

Or for a real challenge, try some rope climbs. Just don't complain about the forearm pain later.

The bottom line is, knowing bodyweight only exercises is a very valuable tool to have in your arsenal. Do not be attached to only one way of doing things; instead, utilize the correct tool for the right job.luckylucyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16343890722498078282noreply@blogger.com0
